Built for troops, made by Timex.

As many of you may know, this military watch eventually named "Camper" was originally designed for the US DoD's MIL-W-46374 specification.

Back then, those watches were called a "Nam" and "disposable" watch which was made by a plastic case but equipped a highly precise movement. In the battleefield, reparing a watch for tens of thousands of soldiers was not an option.  Besies Timex, many other watch companies like Hamilton, Benrus and Westclox also supplied those watches.

After the wars, durable yet functional those watches were widely distributed to the market like other heavy-duty items built for military. For example, MA-1 flight jacket, M-65 jacket and A-2 jecket are good examples.

Unfortunately, this original version of Camper watch was discontinued in early 1990s in responding to the wide spread of quartz watches. Subsequently, Timex launched the 2nd generation of Camper watches in quartz since 1988.

Since around 1993, that mechanical Camper watches were never produced. However, in 2015, the 1st generation Camper watch was brought back again as a part of Japan Exclusive Project which started late 200x. In this bring back edition, Timex and Japan team tried to replicate the original watch by using the latest technologies including 3D scanning from actual vintage Camper watches because no blueprint was exsited.

As a result, Timex and Japan team accomplished to bring back the 1st generation Camper watch in quartz movement (which is servicable unlike the original) which brings more accuracy yet keeping the original look and size. Then, we named it "Original Camper" because we believed this watch is one of the Timex's 501® of Levi's, Chuck Taylor of Converse - timless classic. That was in 2015 and watch was reference as TW2P88400.

This watch instantly became favourite of brands and made epic collaborations like BEAMS x Engineered Garments, Nigel Cabourn, Carhartt WIP, Abu Garcia, Snow Peak, Converse Tokyo, Chinatown Market, YMC, and many others.
